John Cofield’s ‘Oxford & Ole Miss’ –– GOOD OLD BOY

Willie Morris’s writings deal with his personal experiences in the the South. His best known pieces of literature include North Toward Home, Yazoo, Good Old Boy, My Dog Skip and The Last of the Southern Girls.

Morris grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi. And after years of living in Texas, London and New York, Morris returned to Mississippi to be writer-in-residence at Ole Miss, where he encouraged the next generation of Mississippi writers, including John Grisham, who acknowledged auditing Morris’s writing classes.

Good Old Boy: A Delta Boyhood is a novel for young readers about a boy’s adventures growing up in post-WWII Mississippi. The book was adapted for public television by Disney and PBS Wonderworks.

The Stretch Run in Rebel Recruiting

GP Galloway has spent the last 20 years as Director of Marketing for companies in Charlotte, NC as well as founder of Professional Resource Marketing. Marketing and sales has been a passion of his for years. He now spends his time blogging about one of the great loves of his life, Ole Miss Rebel sports. He is married to the former Rebecca Dail of Chapin, SC and spends time with his dogs Juno, Koko Taylor, and Levon. He enjoys blues music from the Mississippi Delta and has an extensive blues collection.

As the first of the year approaches, things are about to get real serious in recruiting. The coaches will tell you it has been serious for a long time. The last few recruits will be making their mind up about where they want to spend the next four years. Schools will lose interest in some recruits. Right now, the Rebels are sitting pretty with a 20th to 30th ranked class, depending upon which service you believe. Today, we’ll take a look at the rest, and give you our opinion. That and two bucks will buy you a cup of coffee.

If you know anything about recruiting, you can see the numbers don’t add up. We will still get a few from the first list. As the time to Signing Day gets closer, those kinds of decisions will be made.

Things are very fluid this time of year and are subject to change. Neither of the above lists are correct. However, both are close. Lots of things will happen and this coaching staff will have some sleepless nights. Fans will debate, wonder and anticipate. Fans of other schools will start rumors. It’s all part of the process.
