Lafayette Election Commission member Mel Green (District 4) and other commission officials began testing voting machines on Tuesday, October 30, to make sure they were in working order for next Tuesday’s election. The two-step process involves the testing of each of the county’s 97 voting machines and then setting them for the November 6 election. Circuit Clerk Baretta Mosley said all the commission’s 97 machines would be in use for the vote. “The last election, we had a big turnout, so we are planning to use all available equipment,” she said. Lafayette County voters who want to avoid the long lines on Election Day can still vote absentee until Saturday, November 3, Mosley said. Absentee voting hours at the circuit clerk’s office are 8 a.m. until noon.
