In 1958 this beautiful home on University Avenue was the home of Miss Elma Meek, the wonderful lady who gave The University of Mississippi the name “Ole Miss.” Miss Elma had suggested the name for the yearbook, which is called The Ole Miss today, but the name stuck and has become the unique identifier of our University.
