Polls showed a nearly even split in the popular vote between Republican Mitt Romney and Democrat Barack Obama, but Dr. Samir Husni was out to make a different statement when he arrived at his polling place this morning wearing both a Republican and a Democrat necktie.

“As a journalist, I believe that no one needs to know my political affiliation or how I vote,” Husni said.

The director of the Magazine Innovation Center at the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at Ole Miss, Husni, who has 1,200 neckties in his wardrobe, said almost everyone he met at the polls gave him a second look, with one woman asking him, “Am I seeing straight?”
